Rose Bikes are really stepping it up with their presence at the World Cups this year and were showing off their tweaked downhill rig, the Beefacke, at the London Bike Show. Updated from last year they've been slackened it out to a big track-friendly 64 degrees at the head angle. Piloting these bike will be former 4X pinner Joost Wichmann, up and coming British racer Katy Curd and possibly the most stylish rider in Belgium, Nico Vink. What's more you'll be able to buy these full team spec bikes straight off the peg...

A little request for bike reviewers and photographers - could we please see photos of both sides of the bike? Often the crankset covers up the linkages and pivot points. I'd like to see that sort of thing.

Kind of embarrassing for your man there to not know either the bike's geo or even where his teams' riders are from. To paraphrase him: 'here's a bike. Some people will ride it'. Still, looks like a decent spec for the eurodollarpounds.

it will be in euros. They are a European company, with no suppliers or retailers in the UK.

All their catalogues display price in German

Prices on the video are in £ you can buy from the site in £gbp and also read it in English by going to www.rosebikes.co.uk

Rosebike - sorry about the anonymous internet haters who have never designed / built a bike, much less marketed and sold it. It looks fast and clean, and I love the round tubes. Reminds me of when high end bikes were fabbed locally using a set of Reynolds or Easton tubes, not hydroformed in a huge bike factory in China.

Keep up the good work and good luck!!

flag nikoli (Jan 19, 2012 at 10:57)
I am not sure how the patent effects these types of things, but I do know that Specialized owns the "Horst Link" or FSR design. Much like Joe Lawill owns the "Lawill parallel linkage design" which is much older than the FSR or "Horst Link" and anyone who wants to use it has have to permission and pay a royalty to him, (Joe lawill that is.) I could be completely wrong, but I "think" (emhasis on think..) it may be the same situation with the big S....just throwin this out there, would love to hear more info on the subject if anyone has any...
  • + 1
flag jacobinmugatu (Jan 19, 2012 at 11:29)
I think you mean Mert Lawill, he developed the Lawill leader suspension for and Lawill suspension design. Not Joe he is/was a rider, his father was the designer.

OK guys, - you arrive at a show, knowing nothing of the new team, or about the bike that arrived 24 hours before.
A camera gets shoved up your snout and you have to "wing it"

I think personally in this format video is kind of lost, but I wanted to say something for you all.
Lets see you guys have a go - with notes on a napkin from a press release that hadn't been released yet, I think most of the haters would have trouble making a complete sentence.

Jeez though don't I look fat!!!!! runs off to do some training

Main marketing victims of Rose` are first time buyers looking for a good deal and basing their buying decision on "Bike" Magazine of Germany Testscore (which is really screwed up). Taiwanese sweatshop frame blingifyed by Rose`windowdresser. Shiny mailorder bike that looks old before the season is over. The proteam will make the bikes more expensive but hey they get paid to ride whatever they are told to.

so sorry if you don't see this to Rosebikes uk, I'm not saying you cant use just straight pipes and yes sometimes it's nice to keep it simple and and old school i just think the development of bikes has come along way and where some are trying new angles and twists and whatever else this just looks a bit to old, sorry it's just my opinion and in order to be successful you have to except criticism as well as praise or you won't know the what people really think... it's just my opinion. but then i have weird dress sense LOL would like it to look a bit more funky and in your face where as this just seems to be in the background for me...

I have ridden Rose bikes before. (Uncle Jimbo (enduro) & Beefcake (FR)). Both were very flexy. Once you get used to it you will miss it. Smile

Hope to see the design for the production bikes. The standard colour is as ugly is a sin...

That does not look like it will be nearly stiff enough to race world cups. I bet the team will have to keep a full stock of replacement seat stays.

flag RoseBikesUK (Jan 19, 2012 at 6:14)
Katy only broke one rear end last year on her BeefCakeSL (much lighter frameset than the DH with the regular 135mm not 150mm) and this only happened at La Bresse where she broke her arm casing the last massive jump before they made it smaller. But we will see how this bike gets on over 2012!
  • + 3
flag donch15 (Jan 19, 2012 at 6:39)
I guess if you design a bit of flex into the bike, you can account for it and it's not such a bad thing.

It's a sweet looking bike anyways. Simple & Effective. Just how a mountain bike should be.
